Artist Bio

Roman Rieth (born 1986 in Innsbruck, Austria) is a contemporary artist based in Vienna. Working primarily in acrylic on canvas, his paintings explore the relationship between people, architecture, nature, and the visual rhythm of everyday life.

Between 2015 and 2022, Rieth lived and worked in Moscow, where he developed his independent artistic practice. During this period, he held solo exhibitions, participated in cultural events including Moscow Fashion Week, and produced several significant bodies of work. Since returning to Austria in 2022, his practice has evolved toward an exploration of the contemporary urban environment, expressed through a vibrant figurative language.

Today, Rieth's work is defined by immersive, colour-rich compositions that transform everyday moments into expressive visual experiences. Working from photographs he captures while walking through the city, he reimagines familiar scenes through bold colour, simplified forms, and carefully balanced compositions.

Rieth is interested in the quiet beauty of ordinary moments — places we pass every day, brief encounters, changing light, and overlooked details. His paintings do not seek to reproduce reality but to reveal its emotional intensity through colour, rhythm, and composition.

Rieth studied sculpture at the Technical College of Construction and Design (HTL Bau & Design) in Innsbruck before continuing his education at the Tyrolean State Theater, where he worked on large-scale stage sets and spatial installations. His multidisciplinary background continues to inform his approach to painting through a strong awareness of structure, balance, and spatial composition.

His work has been exhibited and is held in private collections across Russia and Austria.
